Although not made as a bonus supplement to accompany my review of the CBC\u2019s recent adaptation of Terry Fallis\u2019 novel Best Laid Plans<\/a><\/strong>, you could<\/em> say Wandel\u2019s<\/strong> is tied to the show by geography<\/em>.<\/p>\n

I know it\u2019s a stretch \u2013 just because both were filmed in & around the Gatineau region doesn’t mean they\u2019re connected, but in their own way each reveals the beauty of the Ottawa region during its prettiest summer-ish days.<\/p>\n

This blog\u2019s actually quite brief because Wandel\u2019s<\/strong> is still a work-in-progress.<\/p>\n

HD footage was shot using a Canon SX-220HS and edited into a rough cut in 2012, and it kind of sat on the shelf while I started filming BSV 1172<\/strong>, and as I was overhauling Mondomark.com<\/a> from a straight blog site to a professional C.V. this month, I thought an extract could be added to the revised site\u2019s section on Films<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The final version of Wandel\u2019s<\/strong> won\u2019t feature any music \u2013 just elaborate sound design – but I cut down the short\u2019s second half to match the cue\u2019s length. Apparently the garden\u2019s flowers are arranged so summer yields waves<\/em> of colours \u2013 something I\u2019ve always wanted to see in its peak form. Ottawa has the annual Tulip Festival<\/a>, but Fred\u2019s brilliant work shows some of the great talent thriving in the area.<\/p>\n
