1922 Kodak Kodachrome Film Test

4.5 minutes of (for lack of better words) clothed cheescake shots featuring models clearly being instructed by an off-camera director. I wonder if fascistic Technicolor Consultant Natalie Kalmus was pleased with the finale results.

Salmon flesh tones and turquoise/green hues were the norm for 2-strip Technicolor, which had a distinct look in short films, specially designed musical numbers (like the finale of 1930’s Dixiana), and rare feature films like The Black Pirate (1926) and Mystery of the Wax Museum  (1933) before the implementation of 3-strip Technicolor in films like Becky Sharp (1935).

Martin Scorsese managed to perfectly evoke the look of early Technicolor in the golfing sequence in The Aviator (2004) between Howard Hughes (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Katherine Hepburn (Cate Blanchett).
